Conducting a prior art analysis is crucial to confirm whether the identified needs are unmet and there is room for innovation, as well as determine the degree of novelty that can be achieved in a given solution space.
This exercise consists of gathering all the information available in the public domain concerning existing products, ongoing product development and published ideas, whether protected or not by Intellectual Property Rights. Therefore, it justifies the use (or not) of innovation procurement.
